Reach the world from Stockholm-Västerås Airport
Starting September 15th, Finnair will launch non-stop services from Stockholm-Vasteras Airport to Helsinki Airport. The route will be operated by Nextjet, with three flights per day on weekdays, one flight on Saturdays and two flights on Sundays.
The new route offers travellers from Mälardalen smooth travel to Finnair's more than 70 destinations, whereof 17 destinations in Asia, 3 in the US and several domestic Finland destinations in addition to the European network. The entire network of destinations is opened for bookings as from Wednesday August 17th. You book your flights through the website of Finnair, finnair.com External link., or through your local travel agency.
– We look forward to adding Västerås to our network, in cooperation with Nextjet. The timetable is designed to give the travellers from the catchment area of Stockholm-Västerås Airport the smoothest possible connection times in Helsinki for onward travel to our Asian destinations. Given the fact that Finnair offers the shortest routes to Asia, it means hours of time saving from previous spent total travel time, says Robert Lönnblad, Finnair Nordic Sales Director.
In comparison with travel from/to Arlanda, you shorten the total travel time by approximately 4 hours for the in- and outbound trip. Time is then calculated with ground transportion and the time spent at the airport.
An attractive international hub: Helsinki International Airport
It is almost ten years since Stockholm-Västerås Airport had several daily connections to the world via an hub. Since then, the traffic flow has increased significantly. Through a close and constructive dialogue with the Chamber of Commerce Mälardalen, Finnair and Nextjet airlines, we can now re-open connections to an attractive international major airport.
– We are happy to re-establish the airport as an alternative for the business travelers with frequent flights to the world via Helsinki, says Eva Wetterstrand, Marketing Director at Stokholm-Västerås Airport.
Positive for the business community
– To launch business travel possibilities to and from Västerås area is extremely positive for the local industries and the members of the Chamber of Commerce Mälardalen. Good connections are essential for the industries in the area in order to grow their business. The route to Helsinki offers travel to Asia and thereby an important export market, says Anna Holmström, site manager Västerås at the Chamber of Commerce Mälardalen.
– We are very satisfied with the possibility to present an additional destination from Västerås. We got a very good respons from the region during the summer week when operating flights to Visby during the Almedalweek convention, says Magnus Ivarsson MD at Nextjet.
